Group rides/training
Success for a club brings its problems. So many riders want to go on the Finchley RT Paul Simon Homes/Magic Homes club rides on Saturday and Sunday that the number of cyclists riding together on public roads has become dangerous. Having twenty to thirty cyclists going through Barnet High Road on a Saturday morning when there is lots of traffic simply isn't conducive to good relations with the already troubled motorists. Time has come for a change, which will be to everyone's benefit.
At the club's AGM this week (9th December 2008) it was decided that all groups would have a maximum of twelve riders. Who rides in which group will be selected by our three club marshals; Kevin, Vince and Trevor. You all know them so please respect their decisions.
The Saturday ride will start at the usual place, but please gather thirty yards further up from the steps in to the driving test centre. Meeting on the steps while people try to go in and out has caused a problem. We don't need the hassle and it isn't reasonable anyway.
For those who are not club members, please respect our aims and decisions on group rides. You may just want to benefit from our rides, or perhaps see how we are with a view to becoming a member. Whichever it is you have made the decision to join us, so please respect our aims and concerns. After the Saturday ride there will still be the social in the cafè after the ride so you can catch-up on gossip then.

Sunday
These will start as usual at North Finchley.
The method of changing for both groups will be one-up, one-down. This avoids the dangerous manoeuvre of swinging out when you change. It also makes for better training.
